Types of keyboards and keys


 There are two types of keyboard-

1- General keyboard.
2- Multimedia keyboard.


Both keyboards are used in computer works as a input device of the computer. There are 104 keys generally found on a general keyboard but 110 or above keys are found in multimedia keyboard.

There are 8 types of keys 


1- Alpha keys 

Those all keys on keyboard which are used to write a-z are known as Alpha keys.


2- Num keys 

Those all keys on keyboard which are used to write numbers 0-9

3- Non Printable keys 

Those keys which are used in typing but they do not print anything.


4- Arrow keys 

Those keys which are used to move cursor left, right, up,  and down.


5- Special keys 

Those keys like home, end, alt, ctrl,  shift, wind, pgup, pgdwn, insert, and delete etc. 

6- Lock keys 

Scroll lock, Num lock and Caps lock are called lock keys.

7- Function keys 

Those keys like f1, f2..... F12 are called function keys.


8- Multimedia keys

Those keys which are used to play, paise, stop, next and previous keys are called multimedia keys.


9- Operator keys 

Those keys which are used to add, subtract, multiply and devide are called operator keys.
