What is the Article?

The Article

In English, there are three articles: a, an, and the. Articles are used before nouns or noun equivalents and are a type of adjective. The definite article (the) is used before a noun to indicate that the identity of the noun is known to the reader.

Three articles there in English Grammar

 A, An, the

A- 

1- it is used before a noun that begins with a consonant in general.

e.g.

1. a table,
2. a man, 
3. a flower, 
4. a monkey

2-  It is used before a noun that begins with a vowel but its pronunciation is like a consonant

e.g

1. a unit, 
2. a europian, 
3. a union

Syllable - unit- (yu - ni - t)

An- 

1- It is used before a noun that begins with a vowel in general.

e.g.

1. an inkpot, 
2. an umbrella, 
3. an Indian

2- It is used before a noun that begins with a consonant but pronounces as a vowel.

e.g.

1. an MA, 
2. an LLB, 
3. an MLA
