Definition of the noun:
Types of Noun
1- Common Noun:
The name of a category or species is called a common noun.
Exmaple :
- He plays game in evening.
- She speaks german language.
- I don't have any bag.
2- Proper Noun:
A proper or personal name of anything
Example:
- Ram is very sincer student.
- Who has gone Delhi lastday?
- I don't like drinking warmwater.
3- Concrete Noun:
The physical existence of things is called a concrete noun
or
An opposite to an abstract noun is called a concrete noun.
LIke: tree, chair, table, bat, ball, water, money, sugar, etc.
Example:
- That tree has been droping leaves since last weekend.
- We don't take dry sugar.
- I've closed door.
4- Abstract Noun:
A name of feelings or emotion that has no physical existence is called an abstract noun.
Like: pain, truth, Lie, sadness, sorrow, time, friendship, humor, devotion, etc.
Example:
- You look happy now days
- Hanuman has a deep devotion for lord Ram.
- Humor makes joyful environment everywhere.
5- Countable Noun:
The nouns that can be counted in number is called a countable noun. The article can be used before them also. for single like a, an, and the.
Like: Chair, table, bat, ball, etc. (you can say 1 chair, 2 chairs, 3 chairs – so chairs are countable)
Example:
- I don't sit on stool.
- They have bat and ball. let's go to paly.
- Whos is pelting stone there?
6- Non-countable(Uncountable) Noun:
The nouns that cannot be counted but can be measured are called non-countable nouns.
Like: Water, sugar, oil, salt, etc. (you cannot say “1 water, 2 water, 3 water” because water is not countable)
Example:
- I've drunk accessive water.
- They don't want to take sugar in tea.
- We have saw paddy.
It's notable
(Abstract nouns and proper nouns are always non-countable nouns, but common nouns and concrete nouns can be both count and non-count nouns.)
7- Collective Noun:
The name of a group or collection of something is called a collective noun.
Like: Team, family, Army, jury, cattle, etc.
- Indian cricket team is very aggrassive now.
- They want to join Indian army.
- There six members in my family.
Note:- (Collective nouns can be both plural and singular. However, Americans prefer to use collective nouns as singular, but both of the uses are correct in other parts of the world.)
8- Compound Noun:
A noun that is made of two or more two nouns in a compound form is called a compound noun.
LIke: red-colored, six-pack, five-year-old, and son-in-law, snowball, mailbox, etc.
Example:
- She wears white-color-skirt.
- I have a sister and she is five-year-old.
- The new wrestler has made six-pack
9- Singular Noun:
An individual substance is called a singular noun.
Like: boy, child, student, girl, monkey, tree, woman
Example:
- He is wise and young boy.
- Rahul is one of the most intelligent students in our school.
- Open the door a man wants to come in the room.
10- Plural Noun:
A name used for two or more than two similar things is called a plural noun.
Like: Boys, trees, flowers, men, people, pigeons, etc.
- These all men have small hair.
- You don't want pluck the flowers.
- Flying birds are looking like a shoal together.
Functions of Nouns
Nouns can be used as a subject, a direct object, and an indirect object of a verb; as an object of a preposition; and as an adverb or adjective in sentences. Nouns can also show possession.
